About This Project

Townhouse

The Edward Collins House, constructed in 1846, is situated in East Cambridge, a neighborhood that has witnessed significant transformations over the past two centuries. During the time of its construction, this area thrived as a bustling industrial hub.

Over the course of 180 years, the neighborhood has undergone substantial changes, and now, at 152 Charles Street, it finds itself just blocks away from the dynamic innovation hub of Kendall Square.

The design concept is elegantly straightforward: restore the original building's facade using trim and windows that capture the essence of its historic structure. Simultaneously, the new construction harmonizes with the original through a contemporary aesthetic, mirroring its form and rhythm while incorporating modern simplicity.
